FAQ

Things we get asked.

If you don't see your question here, email us — we read everything.

How long does an order take to ship?+

Most in-stock pieces ship within 5–7 business days from Moorpark, CA. Custom orders take 3–5 weeks. If a piece is between batches, we'll tell you up front.

Where do you ship?+

We currently ship anywhere in the continental United States via USPS and UPS. International orders are case-by-case — email us first.

What's the return policy?+

If a piece arrives damaged or you simply don't love it, you have 30 days to return it for a full refund. We just ask that you reach out before shipping it back so we can issue a label.

Is the wood really reclaimed?+

Yes. Every board we use comes from barn deconstructions, fallen trees, or local salvage. We don't buy newly milled lumber.

Can I see where a specific piece came from?+

We tag each batch with the original source. Email us with the batch number printed on your invoice and we'll send you the story.

How do I care for a cutting board?+

Hand wash with mild soap, towel dry, and oil with food-grade mineral or walnut oil every 1–2 months for the first six months, then twice a year. Never the dishwasher.

What finish do you use on food-contact pieces?+

Food-grade mineral oil mixed with a small amount of beeswax. Non-food pieces are finished with a hardwax oil from Osmo.

Are your products food-safe?+

All cutting boards, trays, serving boards and coasters use food-safe finishes. We disclose materials on each product page.

Do you do engraving?+

Yes — on custom orders. Laser engraving with a serif or hand-script style. Pricing depends on size.

Can you make something to a specific size?+

Usually yes, within the limits of the wood we have on hand. Start a custom order and Priscila will reply with what's possible.

Do you offer wholesale?+

We supply a few small shops in Ventura and LA counties. If you run a store and want to carry us, email local@washwellbio.com with details.

What's a 'batch' on the product pages?+

Every plank we cut from gets a batch number. It tells you when the piece was made and what source the wood came from.

Why do prices vary across similar items?+

Reclaimed wood isn't uniform. Wider, longer or rarer pieces cost more because the raw material costs more.

Do you accept rush orders?+

Sometimes. Rush turnaround adds a flat $40 fee and depends on what's on the bench. Ask before you order.

What payment methods do you accept?+

We invoice by email and accept all major cards via a secure payment link. We never store your card details.

Is my data safe?+

We collect the minimum we need to ship your order. We don't sell or share customer data. See our privacy policy.

Do you have a physical store?+

Not yet. The workshop is in Moorpark and isn't open to the public, but we sometimes do local pickup by appointment.

Can I gift wrap an order?+

Every order arrives in kraft and twine with a handwritten card. We'll add a personal message at checkout — just ask.

What if my piece cracks over time?+

Wood moves. Small surface checks are normal. If a piece develops a structural crack within a year of normal use, we'll repair or replace it.

How can I contact you?+
