Twelve answers, plainly written.
If something is not here, write to us at bing@washwellbio.com — Dana usually replies within a working day.
Will the sheets dissolve in cold water?
+−Yes — our sheets are formulated with a cold-water-soluble PVA film and dissolve fully from 60 °F upward. For very cold incoming water (below 55 °F), tear the sheet in half and place both pieces directly in the drum, not the dispenser.
Are they safe for septic systems and greywater?
+−All six of our products are septic-safe and greywater-safe. We avoid phosphates, optical brighteners and quaternary ammonium compounds — the four ingredient categories most commonly cited as septic-system stressors.
How are they on sensitive skin?
+−Our formulas were developed alongside Dr. Annika Voss, a Santa Barbara dermatologist. They are free of dyes, optical brighteners, parabens, SLS/SLES and synthetic fragrance. That said, every skin is different — we offer a 30-day return on first orders, including opened boxes.
How many sheets per load?
+−One sheet for a normal load (up to ~12 lbs of dry laundry). Two sheets for very heavy or very dirty loads. Half a sheet works fine for small delicates loads in cold water.
Do they work in HE machines?
+−Yes — sheets are inherently low-sudsing, which is why they suit HE front-loaders so well. Place the sheet directly in the drum before adding clothes, not in the soap drawer.
Where do you ship?
+−We currently ship to all 50 US states and Canada via Sendle (carbon-neutral) and USPS. International orders outside North America are available by email request only.
How long does an order take to arrive?
+−We pack and post within one working day. Continental US orders typically arrive in 3–5 business days. Hawaii, Alaska and Canada take 7–10. We send a tracking number with every shipment.
Can I return an opened box?
+−Yes. Our first-order guarantee covers opened boxes for 30 days. After 30 days, returns are limited to unopened items. See our Shipping & Returns page for details.
Are your products vegan and cruelty-free?
+−Yes — every product is vegan and we have never tested on animals. We are an active applicant to Leaping Bunny certification (audit completes 2025).
What is the shelf life?
+−Unopened: 24 months from manufacture. Once opened, we recommend using within 12 months. Each box has a batch code and best-by date printed on the bottom flap.
Why do you not sell on Amazon?
+−We tried, briefly, in 2022. Amazon’s shipping requirements would have forced us into more plastic and a different formula. We chose to keep selling directly from washwellbio.com.
Can I visit the studio?
+−We host a small open-studio afternoon on the second Saturday of each month, 1–4 pm Pacific. RSVP by emailing bing@washwellbio.com — we keep numbers small so we can actually talk.
